Cedarview Alliance Church,
One of the passages of scripture frequently misunderstood is the verse in Isaiah 43 that says ‘Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing!”. It doesn’t mean we are to forget the past! When you read the whole passage (which remembers the famous Exodus deliverance God provided for Israel), the message is that compared to the past great acts of God, what God is going to do will be even more amazing. As though God were saying ‘You have heard what I have already done? Well, you haven’t seen anything, yet!’.
In a wintry January with its short days, it might be hard for us to receive that. But YOU believer, and YOU ‘church’ – you are part of God’s new thing! This is a good season to be in prayer, to trust in Jesus’ promises and to ask Him to help us see what He sees – so that we can share in hopeful joy.
This Sunday, January 14th, we return to our “Life Under Pressure Series”, finding both encouragement and challenge in the second half of the book of 1Thessalonians. The text is I Thessalonians 4:13-18 message is “Death and the Fear of Missing Out”.
