Welcome – Call to Worship
Holy, Holy, Holy:
Worth it All:
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the
Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Psalm 91:1
Father in Heaven, holy and awesome is your name. We pause and remember that you are Sovereign over all the earth. You are great, worthy of praise. We remember that you are our Refuge, our Fortress, our God in whom we trust.
We pray that your will would be done and your new kingdom would come, despite the great challenges facing our world: economic troubles, the Corona Virus’ spread, and the uncertain future. Help us to see your desire and your work.
We pray for our city, province and nation. We pray specifically for the Queensway Carleton hospital near the church, for Dr. Andrew Falconer the President and the whole administration and medical staff, including those at Cedarview that work there. God grant them wisdom and power for this unique time – even innovative ideas. We pray for Dr. Vera Etches, our Ottawa Medical Officer of Health, Christine Elliott, the Ontario Minister of Health and Dr. Theresa Tam, our National Public Health Officer. For them and every level of government, we pray that you would grant them wisdom and power to act with that wisdom.
We pray for all the people in our church and city who are working in essential services, and businesses that are open. We pray that you would keep them safe from all harm.
We pray for all the people in our church and city who are facing job loss or severe job instability, including our small business staff and owners. These are days of making hard decisions, giving or receiving notices with bad news. Lord have mercy, allow us to be full of grace, of love and of hope, sensitive to the challenges people are facing.
We pray for the Newar family as they grieve Debbie’s passing. Bless and comfort them.
Father strengthen your church, that we may be your ambassadors. Help the staff, the elders, the small group leaders, and all of the different ministries seek your face for your will in these times. Grant that through this and our daily times of worship and prayer we would stand strong in our identity in Christ, and in your mission for us.
Lord, we do call on your name and ask for relief from this virus and it’s impact on the world. We pray for your intervention. We remember your scripture which says: “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name…I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” Ps. 91:14 & 15
As we turn our attention to our offerings, we recognize also that many among us may be struggling financially who are unable to work. God, look after us all, and again, help us to look to You as our provider as we give to You in trust. We dedicate what is being given this week to your purposes in the world.
IN JESUS NAME, AMEN
Our worship regularly includes the giving of tithes and offerings and we dedicate it together to Christ and his mission through the church to our neighbours and to the nations. Without gathering physically, there are still ways to participate – click here to see some options or to ask questions.
“The people rejoiced over the offerings, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the LORD…” 1 Chronicles 29:9
John 17:20-26 New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Prays for All Believers
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you[a] known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
